A má oclusão Classe III, também conhecida como mesioclusão, é definida como a relação entre os arcos dentários na qual os dentes inferiores ocluem em uma relação mesial em relação aos dentes superiores. Pode ser de origem dentária, funcional ou esquelética, e possui graus de severidade distintos. Quando diagnosticada precocemente, a má oclusão Classe III pode ser interceptada durante a fase de crescimento e desenvolvimento craniofacial mediante o uso de aparelhos ortopédicos. A maioria dos casos de má oclusão Classe III é causado por deficiência de desenvolvimento maxilar, justificando a utilização da protração maxilar com tração reversa da maxila como tratamento precoce de eleição para grande parte dessas más oclusões. O objetivo deste trabalho é revisar os principais tópicos relacionados ao tratamento ortopédico da má oclusão Classe III com tração reversa da maxila.
