Abstract
La tortue-lièvre fut la dernière revue du mouvement Phases, mouvement fondé à Paris en 1953 par Édouard et Simone Jaguer. Il exista en parallèle des différents groupes surréalistes existants, collaborant avec la plupart d’entre eux, en particulier avec le groupe parisien autour d’André Breton entre 1959 et 1963. Phases voulait rendre compte des ten-dances d’avant-garde qui revendiquaient le surréalisme ou l’abstraction comme points de départ, avec toujours comme présupposés la liberté et l’imagination. Ce mouvement s’est beaucoup structuré autour des revues : Phases de 1954 à 1975 et La tortue-lièvre , 80 numéros de 1995 à 2010, ce qui est considérable pour une revue d’avant-garde par essence plutôt éphémère. Animée par Gilles Petitclerc et Pierre Boulay à Montréal, elle fédéra l’activité de Phases pendant une quinzaine d’années. C’est une source précieuse pour découvrir la richesse de ce mouvement dans toute son histoire.
