Abstract
This chapter focuses on contemporary gay zombies in film, literature, and media in order to shed light on a dual problem: the ways that the zombie figure has been utilised to stoke the fires of homosexual panic in the general public, but, also to illuminate anxieties within queer communities. Through a queer theoretical lens, the author probes zombie apocalypse narratives alongside queer politics. Zombie narratives investigated here are the BBC TV series <italic>In the Flesh</italic> (2013-14), the Irish film <italic>The Cured</italic> (2017), and the radical queer zombie films of Canadian director Bruce LaBruce: <italic>Otto; Or, Up with Dead People</italic> (2008) and <italic>L.A. Zombie</italic> (2010). The author argues that queer sex needs to be explored outside of the normative parameters that have been choking queer sexuality, and calls for a celebration of transgressive qualities of queer sex mirrored within various zombie narratives.
