Abstract
In this chapter, I present findings of selected data from a four-year ethnographic study on how residents and artists in a community festival setting generated intercultural collaboration and civic education through a multimodal cultural production in Vancouver, Canada. Drawing on perspectives of cultural production as political participation and connected civic learning, this chapter illustrates how – at a festival event called Terrain of Thought – cultural production practices and processes generated pedagogical possibilities that connected community art with civic engagement, critical meaning-making and personal transformation.
