Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This chapter takes the form of an international dialogue between community artist-educators located in the Southwest United States; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Ontario, Canada. The third context is drawn into the exchange through interviews with practitioners at ‘Artists at the Centre.’ These contexts are notable for both unique and shared challenges relating to the rights of children, their families, teachers, and wider communities in which they exist. Through our dialogue, we intertwine vignettes of our contexts and our philosophical alignment with the Reggio Emilia Approach across our diverse settings to illustrate our collective ideas regarding community, pedagogy, materiality and imagination. In this chapter, we consider key transversal themes and metaphors inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach that carry across our contexts, as well as how and why this philosophical alignment might be significant and inspiring for others working in early childhood community arts settings globally.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
