Abstract
Tourné vers l’avenir du Groenland, dans un « rêve » qui ouvre à la fois sur les inquiétudes de ses citoyens et sur l’utopie d’une société égalitaire, ce premier roman de la littérature groenlandaise — Sinnattugaq , d’abord publié à Copenhague en 1914, puis traduit en danois par le célèbre Knut Rasmussen l’année suivante — permet au lecteur d’aujourd’hui de renverser son regard sur le monde inuit et de découvrir enfin une voix « de l’intérieur », qui recentre la représentation sur cette immense île de l’Arctique. Ce roman progressiste revendique pour les Groenlandais savoir, éducation, reconnaissance. Selon Karen Langgård, qui en signe l’introduction,l’auteur a écrit ce roman avec un objectif politique, notamment envers les Danois qui colo-nisaient le pays : « Son idée du rôle des Danois était que les Groenlandais devaient collaborer avec les Danois les plus progressistes, capables de les respecter. » Avec une introduction de Karen Langgård, professeure à l’Université du Groenland. Traduction du danois par Inès Jorgensen et validation linguistique à partir du texte original groenlandais par Jean-Michel Huctin.
