Abstract
Depuis les années soixante du XXème siècle, grâce aux chercheuses canadiennes I.K.Taylor et M.M.Taylor (1965), nous distinguons deux types de symbolisme phonétique : subjectif et objectif. Le symbolisme phonétique subjectif concerne la recherche du lien motivé entre son et sens existant dans la psychique humaine. Ce type de symbolisme phonétique peut être mis en évidence à l’appui des expériences psycho-linguistiques. Le symbolisme phonétique objectif, à son tour, vise la découverte du rapport naturel entre son et sens existant potentiellement dans les mots d’une langue indépendamment du locuteur.
