Les résultats de l'industrie canadienne de l'assurance de dommages en 2001Selon le BAC, l'estimation pour l'année 2001 du rendement des capitaux propres des assureurs s'établissait à 3 %.Les bénéfices ont chuté de 52 %, pour atteindre 581 millions de dollars, soit le quart de ceux réalisés lors de la dernière bonne année de l'industrie, en 1997.On observe que la hausse des primes en 2001 a été annu lée par une sinistralité plus élevée.Sur le plan des souscriptions, les pertes furent encore plus marquées que celles de l'an 2000, soit une variation de 26,8 %.Voici les principales caractéristiques établies par le BAC pour le dernier trimestre et les quatre trimestres de l'année 2001, compa rés à ceux de l'année précédente :
