Abstract

Rakstā apkopoti un analizēti tēli, kuri Rīgas arhitektūras dekorā parādījās 20. gadsimta pirmajā gadu desmitā un kuri alegoriskā veidā atspoguļo progresa un sociālās cīņas idejas. Jau kopš 19. gadsimta beigām progresa tēmu Rīgas arhitektūrā visbiežāk pārstāvēja Saules simbols, kas tika atspoguļots divējādi – gan kā parasts Saules attēls, gan kā antīkā dieva Hēlija/Apollona tēls. Minētajā periodā šie simboli kļuva par ierastu arhitektūras dekora elementu. Tajā pašā laikā uz ēku fasādēm parādījās jauni un oriģināli mēģinājumi paust progresa idejas, piemēram, gaismu nesošas Artemīdas/Selēnes tēls Alberta ielā 2a un alegorisks atjaunotas cilvēces attēls uz ciļņa Miera ielā 54. Savukārt cīņas tēma īpaši spilgti izpaudās divās skulptūrās Tirgoņu ielā 4 un trijos ciļņos, kas veltīti Prometeja sižetam, Marijas ielā 18. Var secināt, ka 20. gadsimta sākumā Rīgas arhitektūras dekorā progresa un revolucionārās cīņas idejas tika attēlotas samērā bieži un izteiksmīgi, kas norāda uz tā laika sabiedrisko noskaņojumu.
