Abstract
In this study, we discuss how the presence of a self-study critical friend acted as a bridging agent to aid the transition of a Physical Science in Contemporary Society active learning course design between physics professors at a major Central Canadian research university.We also examine the roles the participants took, how the background of the participants may have aided the transition, and how these characteristics may assist transitions of active learning course designs in the future.Given the propensity of active learning courses to lose their active learning characteristic during the transition between instructors, techniques to retain the design of these courses are critically important.
