Abstract
Bien que le complotisme ne soit pas un phénomène nouveau, il a certainement été accéléré durant la pandémie de COVID‑19 et, de fait, est devenu un enjeu médiatique, politique et culturel majeur dans les dernières années. Le présent article vise dans un premier temps à contribuer à une meilleure saisie des théories du complot comme rapport social, notamment en portant attention à leur situation d’énonciation et de réception ainsi qu’à leurs fonctions politiques pour les différents groupes en jeu. Dans un second temps, les auteurs se penchent sur les affinités entre religions et théories du complot du point de vue de leur commune recomposition et de leur fécondation réciproque en contexte d’ultramodernité. Les théories du complot, en tant que narrations ou récits contemporains, deviennent ainsi, à la manière du religieux, des révélateurs culturels des évolutions et des contradictions, voire des « radicalisations » de la modernité.
