Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

As I write this article in mid-April, I am excited to be able to share that we have just received confirmation that the 2025 IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Annual Meeting will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, during the week of 15–20 June. This is the first time that the Annual Meeting has been held outside North America since 2005. Some readers and Society members will recall that in 2000, the Annual Meeting was held in Hong Kong, China, and that the 2005 Annual Meeting was held in Rome, Italy. However, since then, the Annual Meeting has been in North America, and since 2017, has been colocated with the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), which is jointly held by the Industrial Power Conversion Systems Department (IPCSD) of the IAS and the IEEE Power Electronics Society.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Teacher imitation

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
