Abstract
Este estudo aprofunda-se na análise da evolução histórica das políticas públicas voltadas às populações indígenas, explorando sua objetificação ao longo dos tempos. Por meio de uma metodologia de revisão bibliográfica abrangente e da análise de documentos históricos, busca-se avaliar a efetividade dos direitos de cidadania conferidos aos povos indígenas, destacando a importância do reconhecimento de sua autonomia como coletividade diferenciada bem como sua participação na construção das políticas públicas. Atualmente, as questões envolvendo os indígenas ocupam posição central na agenda das políticas públicas, sendo discutidas dentro de um contexto histórico-político que molda tanto os sujeitos quanto os objetos dessas políticas. Desde a instituição do Serviço de Proteção ao Índio (SPI) em 1910, observou-se um avanço significativo na participação dos indígenas no processo de formulação, implementação e execução das políticas públicas. Nesse sentido, este estudo enfatiza a importância de compreender o papel ativo dos povos indígenas na construção das políticas que os afetam, ressaltando sua representatividade como coletividades com características culturais e sociais únicas que os distinguem da sociedade nacional.
