Abstract
Este artículo hace un recorrido por el desarrollo del proceso de expedición de las Normas Técnicas Colombianas (NTC) 6228, de sus partes 1, 2, 3 y 4, correspondientes a “Sistemas de refrigeración y bombas de calor. Requisitos de seguridad y medioambientales”. La tarea de formular las normas le correspondió al Comité Técnico 125 del Instituto Colombiano de Normas Técnicas (Icontec), encargado de “Maquinaria para uso doméstico e industrial para refrigeración”. Se revisaron y compararon las normas técnicas europeas (EN) 372 y las normas internacionales ISO 5149-2014. A partir del informe comparativo, se tomó la decisión de adoptar para Colombia las normas internacionales ISO, por ser las que mejor se acoplaban a la normalización del país. Con la expedición de la norma NTC 6228 se logró traspasar una de las 16 barreras existentes en Colombia para el cumplimiento del Protocolo de Montreal. Lo cual ha permitido que Colombia avance hacia un desarrollo sostenible y un mejor cuidado del medio ambiente, al eliminar el uso de sustancias agotadoras de la capa de ozono, creando normas que desestimulan el uso de sustancias con un alto potencial de calentamiento global.
