Abstract
Que peuvent les politiques publiques pour l’insertion en emploi des jeunes, particulièrement des immigrants issus des minorités dites « visibles » ? À partir de l’évaluation du projet Réalité jeunesse immigrante, mis en œuvre par le Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Laval, l’auteur étudie la position qu’occupent de jeunes immigrants d’origine haïtienne dans la course à l’emploi à Laval, la troisième plus grande ville du Québec. Si le projet ne constitue pas une panacée – car en matière d’intervention sociale, il y a toujours du progrès à faire –, il offre une rampe d’accès vers l’émancipation en avivant l’espoir des jeunes immigrants en quête d’une vie meilleure sur leur terre d’accueil, et ce, malgré les difficultés reliées au processus d’intégration du marché de l’emploi, telle la discrimination dont ils peuvent faire l’objet. Il laisse penser que des ajustements au programme d’employabilité, une fois mis en place au moyen d’une action assidue et concertée, sont susceptibles d’offrir aux jeunes Lavallois de minorités dites « visibles » une participation équitable à la course à l’emploi et, qui sait, de conjurer leur relégation au peloton de queue.
