Abstract
De plus en plus de femmes se hissent dans la structure du pouvoir politique en France et au Canada. Certaines ont accédé aux plus hauts échelons des gouvernements ou encore ont été candidates pour ceux-ci. Comment le genre entre-t-il en jeu dans la médiatisation de ces personnalités politiques ? Les stéréotypes jouent-ils encore un rôle dans cette médiatisation ? D’autres marqueurs identitaires, tels la classe sociale, l’âge, l’origine ethnique ou l’orientation sexuelle, interviennent-ils en conjonction avec le genre ? L’idée d’un renouvellement de la politique fondé sur les qualités dites féminines se reflète-t-elle dans les stratégies communicationnelles des partis ? Comment les femmes en politique gèrent-elles leur image dans la presse ? Voilà quelques-unes des questions traitées dans la première partie de l’ouvrage qui a pour objet la médiatisation du parcours de femmes et d’hommes politiques français et canadiens. Les études de cas portent, entre autres, sur François Hollande, Ségolène Royal, Marine Le Pen, Christiane Taubira, Pauline Marois, Christy Clark, Alison Redford et Danielle Smith. Une seconde partie comporte les analyses de la médiatisation de trois sujets politiques qui mettent en scène des différenciations entre hommes et femmes : la parité dans la représentation politique en France, les femmes terroristes et les affaires de nature sexuelle concernant Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Les registres argumentatifs, les cadres médiatiques, les biais paternalistes et culturalistes ou encore les stéréotypes à l’œuvre dans la presse sont examinés.
