A Doença de Alzheimer é uma afecção neurológica debilitante crônica de elevada prevalência, apresenta impacto neurocognitivo de cerca de 60% a 70% dos pacientes idosos, entre os sintomas descritos estão desordens linguísticas, mnêmicas, psicose, desinibição, agitação, acatisia, disfunções olfatórias e motoras extrapiramidais.O artigo demonstra como principal objetivo a realização de revisão de literatura e demonstrar atualizações acerca de tratamento neurocirúrgico destes pacientes.Por conseguinte, os métodos cirúrgicos considerados para esta revisão foram: estimulação cerebral profunda, entrega direcionada de medicamentos de maneira encapsulada, neurocirurgia de derivação de Líquor (LCR) em pacientes com Hidrocefalia de Pressão Normal e Doença de Alzheimer e transplante neuronal e tecidual.Concluiu-se através deste trabalho que a estimulação cerebral profunda foi o método com melhores resultados, e a cirurgia de derivação liquórica apresentou abordagens preventivas para a afecção.
