Abstract
Jean Lesage. Aujourd’hui encore, son nom inspire. Dire qu’il fait figure de symbole ne serait pas suffisant. Notre imaginaire collectif lui attribue un statut quasi mythique. Chef de file de L'équipe du tonnerre, il aura à jamais transformé la société québécoise. Dans l’histoire nationale du Québec, peu de premiers ministres peuvent se targuer d’un héritage aussi riche et durable que celui qu’il a laissé. À l’occasion du 150e anniversaire du Parti libéral, la Société du patrimoine politique du Québec (SOPPOQ) a rassemblé les plus grands discours prononcés par l’un des plus brillants orateurs québécois du xxe siècle. Cette anthologie nous rappelle à quel point il est impossible de faire référence à l’architecture contemporaine du modèle québécois sans tôt ou tard faire référence au gouvernement dont il fut responsable de 1960 à 1966. Les écrits de Jean Lesage nous ramènent à la genèse de l’État, force motrice de la Révolution tranquille. Ils nous permettent de revisiter les débats qui ont permis aux Québécois de construire un État moderne.
