Este texto es una biografía comentada al crítico cinematográfico Jorge Ayala Blanco (n. 1942). A partir de varias entrevistas personales se explica la historia del crítico vivo más incisivo, mordaz e influyente de México. Se recorre su temprana pasión por el cine, la influencia de Tomás Pérez Turrent, su encuentro y desencuentro con el otro gran crítico Emilio García Riera, y finalmente la estrategia de sus críticas en la prensa y en su producción bibliografía.
