Entre performance et fragilité : mécanismes de construction de la masculinité chez des garçons du secondaire

Abstract
Cet article présente les résultats d’une étude de cas qualitative des perceptions de garçons du secondaire au sujet de la diversité de genre. Les données ont été recueillies au moyen d’un questionnaire, d’enregistrements sonores de discussions sur deux bandes dessinées de l’écrivaine trans Sophie Labelle, de journaux de bord et d’entretiens individuels semi-dirigés. Trois résultats ressortent de l’analyse des données : (1) le soutien à des conceptions biologiques et binaires du genre; (2) la fragilité cisgenre, à savoir une attitude défensive lorsque des visions du monde cisgenres sont remises en question; et (3) la performance sociale de la transphobie comme moyen de construction de la masculinité hégémonique. Nous terminons par une discussion des résultats et de leurs implications pédagogiques.
