Efectividad de una intervención basada en mindfulness en personas adultas mayores con sintomatología depresiva y la satisfacción con la vida

Para realizar el presente estudio se tomó una población de 60 adultos mayores pertenecientes al Centro Diurno del Adulto Mayor de Urcuquí, ubicado en la Provincia de Imbabura del cantón San Miguel de Urcuquí. Posteriormente, se dividió en dos grupos: un control (n=30) y un experimental (n=30). Los resultados mediante las pruebas estadísticas fueron Shapiro-Wilk no paramétrica, por lo que se usó la prueba d de Cohen. Tras medir la GDS-15, se evidenció en el pretest una diferencia de medias intergrupal (0,083) con un tamaño de efecto pequeño y en el post test (0,771) un tamaño de efecto moderado. Respecto a la SWLS, existió un tamaño de efecto pequeño (0.547) en el pre test intergrupal; por otro lado, en el post test se evidenció un tamaño de efecto grande (1,261). En lo referente a la prueba U de Mann-Whitney, se observó que en el post test existen diferencias de medias significativas en los dos test aplicados. Se concluyó que la intervención de mindfulness contribuyó a la disminución de síntomas de depresión moderados y severos. Con respecto a la satisfacción con la vida, incrementó a satisfechos y muy satisfechos.
