In this chapter, the author examines the current mechanisms for resolving domain name disputes in Sri Lanka. Through a meticulous exploration of litigation and various alternative dispute resolution (ADR) avenues, the study seeks to comprehensively analyze the challenges posed by these measures in the contemporary landscape. By highlighting the absence of a dedicated legal framework for domain name disputes, the study employs a comparative analysis of international standards in this domain, including the uniform domain name dispute policy implemented by ICANN. In conclusion, the author emphasizes the pressing need for a distinct uniform dispute resolution policy tailored for Sri Lanka to facilitate effective dispute settlement. Moreover, the study strongly advocates for the incorporation of online dispute resolution (ODR) mechanisms as an efficient means to resolve domain name disputes.
