Salah satu cara penting untuk membuat keputusan dalam pemilihan, terutama tentang pendidikan tinggi, adalah dengan memilih menggunakan aplikasi evoting. Evoting adalah sistem pemilihan yang memungkinkan data disimpan, disimpan, dan diproses dalam bentuk informasi digital. Dengan kata lain, pemungutan suara adalah proses pemilihan yang dilakukan secara elektonik (digital) mulai dari pendaftaraan pemilih, pelaksanaan pemilihan, perhitungan suara, dan pengiriman hasil suara. Mahasiswa dapat menggunakan hak suaranya secara online dengan menggunakan e-voting. Meskipun e-voting berbasis web ini dapat dilakukan di mana pun, proses pemilihan tetap di bilik. Sistem ini terdiri dari tiga komponen penting: sistem pemilihan suara, sistem perhitungan suara, dan sistem cetak hasil pemilihan. Semua komponen ini mengumpulkan hasil e- voting di Universitas Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo. Tujuan dari pemungutan suara elektronik (e-voting) adalah untuk memungkinkan penghitungan suara yang cepat dan hemat biaya dengan menggunakan sistem yang aman dan mudah digunakan untuk pemeriksaan.
