Contribution of Alexithymia and Loneliness on Suicidal Tendencies in Early Adults in Sidoarjo

Abstract
This study aims to find out whether or not alexithymia and loneliness influence suicidal tendencies in early adulthood. This study uses a double regression study with a quantitative approach. The population in this study is an early adult in Sidoarjo of 816,530 people with the criterion of age 18-40 years, living in Sidoarjo, having thought of committing suicide and willing to be the subject of the study. The sampling technique used was incidental samplings until the subjects managed to gather as many as 348 people. Measures used in the study include the Adult Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire (ASIQ), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and the University of California, Los Angeles Loneliness Scale Version 3 (UCLA LS). The results of this study show a significant influence between rates of alexithymia and loneliness on suicidal tendencies in early adulthood. Loneliness has a greater influence than the influence of alexithymia on suicidal tendencies.
