Annie Ernaux a publié deux récits sur la perte de ses parents : La Place (1983) et Une femme(1988). Ils permettent de définir le récit d’orphelinage, un récit du deuil d’un ou des deux parents. Quête de soi et de vérité, cette narration dessine une trame faite d’analepses et de différents récits allant interroger le passé et le présent. La poéthique d’Annie Ernaux est de trouver la forme qui puisse rendre compte du réel. Le récit de l’agonie est celui de cet espace-temps unique, ni vie ni mort, les deux. L’écriture, courageuse, opère cette anatomie.
