Abstract
Force-Bonté est le premier roman à avoir été publié en France par un Africain subsaharien. Bakary Diallo y retrace son expérience en tant que tirailleur sénégalais pendant la campagne au Maroc, la Grande Guerre et la période de l’entre-deux guerres. J’en propose une étude historique structurée en trois parties. L’effacement de cette œuvre pionnière de l’histoire littéraire africaine est justifié par des critères idéologiques, mais le doute concernant la paternité de l’œuvre n’a pas de fondement. En outre, l’article souligne le contexte discursif dans lequel Bakary Diallo prend la parole afin de mettre en valeur la perturbation de la représentation stéréotypée et réifiante des tirailleurs, telle qu'elle était dominante dans l’Europe de 1926, année inaugurale de la littérature africaine d’expression française.
