Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The essay delves into and outlines the role of Leonardo Pestelli (1909-1976), writer, journalist and non-academic linguist, in the promotion of ideologies on the ‘new’, understood as the diffusion in the use of linguistic traits not yet contemplated by the system or contemplated but kept at its margins. The historical period in which Pestelli is active goes from the 1950s to the 1970s and is a particularly delicate period for the history of Italy, characterised, on a linguistic level, by the progressive Italianisation of society, the consequent expansion of the readership of the printed press and publishing industry, the increasing spread of mass media, the development of science and technology, and the influence of Anglo-American. Pestelli’s perception of the new is defined through the analysis of his successful volumes of linguistic popularization: Parlare italiano (1957), Dizionario delle parole antiche (1961), Racconto grammaticale (1967), Trattatello di rettorica (1969), Perdicca (1972).

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
