Optimization and inverse problems in electromagnetismIt is a great pleasure to introduce this special issue of selected papers presented at OIPE'23, the 17th International Workshop on Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism held in September 2023 in Graz, Austria.More than 60 colleagues from 14 countries have contributed to OIPE'23, presenting both oral speeches and posters.Besides all topics related to optimization and inverse problems in electromagnetism, two mini symposia on "Topology Optimization in Electromagnetics" and "Optimal Energy System Management" enjoyed great popularity.A limited number of 12 papers were selected by a panel of at least two reviewers per paper to be published in this special issue.We take the opportunity to thank the reviewers from all over the world for their precious work.
