Abstract
Sweden became an industrial society later than most of the other countries in this book. At the turn of the century, Sweden was a poor agrarian society with high emigration. In common with Australia, Sweden still has only 30 per cent of its civilians employed in industry (a lower percentage than any of the other countries in this book, except Canada). Five per cent are still in the agricultural sector, while 65 per cent are now in the services sector.
