Abstract
O atual movimento de transição energética pelo qual o atravessa o planeta diante das potenciais consequências do fenômeno da mudança climática e seus desdobramentos sobre as cadeias produtivas globais, ensejou a análise do contexto atual da indústria de hidrogênio no Brasil, bem como um estudo sobre o balanço entre oferta e demanda de hidrogênio no horizonte decenal. Do lado da demanda, observa-se a manutenção da tendência de crescimento do mercado de hidrogênio ao longo da próxima década, em razão da continuidade do crescimento da produção de derivados de petróleo e da ampliação das safras de grãos aliadas à expectativa de uma política que fomente a produção nacional de fertilizantes, além dos novos usos do hidrogênio em diferentes setores da economia. Já do lado da oferta, haverá a necessidade de ampliar a capacidade produtiva, o que poderá abrir espaço para a instalação em larga escala de plantas de produção de hidrogênio baseadas em novas tecnologias de baixa emissão de carbono.
