Um dos desafios primordiais que enfrentamos atualmente está relacionado ao desperdício de água, este estudo aborda o conceito de uso consciente e sustentável da água no ambiente escolar em relação ao uso de água dos bebedouros de escolas públicas capixabas e mineira. Assim, o objetivo principal do estudo foi investigar o volume de água que é desperdiçado nos bebedouros escolares pelas garrafas de uso individual, devido ao mau uso por parte dos alunos da 3º série do Ensino Médio de cinco escolas, CEEFMTI João XXIII, da EEEFM Governador Lindengerg e da EEEFM Professora Ascendina Feitosa, situadas no município de Barra de São Francisco-ES; da EEEFM, no município de Guarapari-ES e da EE Professora Zilda Pinheiro da Silva, no município de Mantena-MG. A pesquisa adotou a metodologia quali-quantitativa, para tanto, foi feito uma pesquisa-ação através de questionário aplicado aos alunos. Os dados indicaram que as relações entre o volume do desperdício e o tamanho das garrafas utilizadas pelos alunos, sugerem orientação para o uso correto das mesmas.
