Ce texte présente les mécanismes d'ajustement aux chocs économiques de deux zones monétaires avec structure fédérale -Canada et États-Unis- et fait ressortir quelques observations pertinentes pour la zone euro (ZE). La première partie présente brièvement quelques réflexions sur fédéralisme financier et zone monétaire optimale. La seconde partie porte sur les politiques monétaires et fiscales qui ont permis de résorber le choc économique de 2008-2009. La troisième conclut en examinant leur pertinence pour la ZE.
