Abstract
Este artigo é parte constituinte da pesquisa realizada no processo de doutoramento que trata sobre o Movimento de Educação de Base (MEB), no município de Tefé/AM. Tivemos como objetivo analisar as propostas educativas do MEB em Tefé, direcionadas para a população ribeirinha no período de 1963 a 1973. Para a compreensão da sua historicidade, utilizamos como fontes documentais os relatórios, as propostas pedagógicas, os termos de convênios, os scripts e as matérias jornalísticas acessadas por meio do portal da Hemeroteca Digital da Biblioteca Nacional. Para estabelecer diálogo com essas fontes, apropriamo-nos de autores que tratam do Movimento de Educação de Base em diferentes contextos. Quanto ao embasamento metodológico, aproximamo-nos das ideias de Certeau (2017), Prost (2008) e Ginzburg (1989). Evidenciamos que o MEB, a partir de suas ações, envolveu a população ribeirinha em práticas relacionadas à educação, à saúde, ao lazer, à religião e à cultura. Utilizando-se do MEB, a Igreja Católica se fez presente em áreas longínquas do Norte do país, assumindo, muitas vezes, o papel do Estado.
