Rythme prosodique dans le français et l’anglais des francophones du Nord-Est de l’Ontario

Abstract
Cet article présente les résultats d’une étude du rythme prosodique du français et de l’anglais de Franco-Ontariennes et Franco-Ontariens de deux municipalités situées dans le Nord-Est de la province, Kapuskasing (francophones en situation locale majoritaire) et Timmins (francophones en situation locale minoritaire). Les données ne montrent pas une rythmicité plus accentuelle dans le contexte minoritaire de Timmins par rapport au contexte majoritaire de Kapuskasing. Ainsi, nos résultats ne soutiennent pas l’hypothèse d’une influence de l’anglais là où le contact du français avec cette langue est plus intense. En outre, les valeurs des mesures rythmiques révèlent que les francophones maintiennent une différence claire entre la rythmicité plutôt syllabique de leur français et la rythmicité plutôt accentuelle de leur anglais, résultat qui n’appuie pas l’hypothèse d’une convergence dans le rythme des deux langues en contact.
