Abstract
Este artículo reflexiona sobre los testimonios de las personas lesionadas durante la guerra civil salvadoreña (1980-1992). Estos son entendidos como un acto performativo. En la comunidad de Los Pinos se establece un régimen local de sufrimiento que otorga prestigio y estatus a la población con base en sus testimonios de lucha durante la guerra. Simultáneamente, circulan rumores de que personas exinsurgentes y certificadas como lisiadas de guerra le han mentido sobre sus cicatrices a la institución que ejecuta la Ley de Lisiados de Guerra. A partir de la propuesta teórica de John Austin y de la concepción del testimonio de Jacques Derrida, analizo las condiciones favorables en las que el testimonio es creído tanto por las personas funcionarias como por las simpatizantes del imaginario revolucionario, y las implicaciones que la mentira tendría o tiene en su credibilidad ante ambas audiencias.
