Eine Reihe von Studien hat mittlerweile gezeigt, dass eine endovaskuläre Therapie (EVT) auch bei ausgedehnten Infarkten positive Effekte erreichen kann. Allerdings waren Patienten mit sehr großen Infarkten, mit einem ASPECTS (Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score) von 0 oder 1, dabei ausgeschlossen.
