Hypera postica(Gyllenhal), Alfalfa Weevil / Charançon postiche de la luzerne (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Hypera postica , the alfalfa weevil, was introduced to North America at least three times, giving rise to three strains of H. postica on the continent. All alfalfa weevil specimens recently collected on the Canadian prairies belonged to the western strain. The larvae and adults of alfalfa weevil are important defoliators and have economic impacts on alfalfa hay and seed production. Alfalfa weevil has long been the target of biological control in the United States and Canada. Two parasitoids released in the United States and eastern Canada, Bathyplectes curculionis and Oomyzus incertus , are now present in western Canada but their impact on alfalfa weevils varies widely. The chapter reviews the distribution, establishment and impact of biological control agents of alfalfa weevil in Canada, with a focus on work in western Canada, and highlights future directions required for additional research.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; both teacher heads agree on what is shown here.
