Introduccin: la prosodia es el componente del lenguaje que incluye caractersticas acsticas que contextualizan el mensaje y proporciona sentido a un discurso, existen dos tipos: emocional y lingstica.La aprosodia se refiere al dficit en la produccin y comprensin de estos elementos suprasegmentales lingsticos, su afeccin est causada por lesin en el hemisferio cerebral derecho, principalmente por un accidente cerebrovascular o traumatismo craneoenceflico, generando deficiencias cognitivas y comunicativas.Existen bateras de medicin y diagnsticas que detectan dificultades de comunicacin tpicas de las interacciones sociales.Las alteraciones en las cualidades expresivas del lenguaje afectan reas interpersonales de la vida, reduce la participacin, el funcionamiento interpersonal y calidad de vida de quienes lo padecen, por lo que el tratamiento se adapta a la fisiopatologa especfica del individuo.Objetivo: presentar un caso clnico de aprosodia y las alteraciones lingsticas presentadas.Presentacin del caso: se describe el caso de un paciente de 56 aos que present un evento vascular isqumico en el hemisferio derecho, se le aplic el test de afasia de Western y el protocolo para la evaluacin de la comunicacin de Montreal y se realiz un anlisis cualitativo del discurso expresivo y receptivo.Discusin: se estima que 26% de los pacientes con dao en hemisferio derecho mostrar deficiencias en el lenguaje expresivo y receptivo, lo que generar alteraciones prosdicas sutiles en el lenguaje que interfieren en la comunicacin.Conclusin: la aprosodia es una patologa compleja que puede pasar desapercibida, requiere un manejo multidisciplinario y valoracin integral.Existen bateras
