Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Digital methods of design threaten to formulate a decentralization of knowledge and a globalized architectural language. The open-ended nature of digital design tools in contemporary architecture has formulated results that distill the identity and sustainability of regionally focused design. The basis of this thesis examines the integration of localized characteristics through digital fabrication in architecture. Through an exploration of considered design criteria and fabrication processes, characteristics of localized architectural design can be made distinguishable, as digital tools provide designers newfound control over the creation and fabrication of architecture. The criteria will then be applied within a specific context in Canada to determine the validity of the defined processes. The intended exploration into the merging of place-based design and digital fabrication will enhance the future built environment's relationship to its context.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
