Abstract
Resumen En este artículo se investiga la contribución de las organizaciones de trabajadores domésticos al control del cumplimiento de la legislación laboral. Se examina cualitativamente el caso del Sindicato de Trabajadores Domésticos de Jamaica tras la ratificación del Convenio sobre las trabajadoras y los trabajadores domésticos, 2011 (núm. 189) por este país. Se constata que el sindicato participa directa e indirectamente en los procesos de control. El enfoque participativo centrado en los trabajadores no sustituye a los mecanismos estatales, pero puede contribuir a la observancia en el sector y sugiere que la voz y la representación colectiva de los trabajadores son esenciales para cumplir las expectativas del convenio.
