Abstract
Résumé Les auteurs explorent le rôle des organisations de travailleurs domestiques dans l'application des normes du travail en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes. À partir de données qualitatives, ils étudient le cas du syndicat des travailleurs domestiques de la Jamaïque (JHWU) après la ratification de la convention n° 189 sur les travailleuses et travailleurs domestiques, 2011, et constatent que le syndicat contribue directement et indirectement à l'application des normes. Ils en déduisent que, même si elle ne remplace pas l'intervention publique, une approche participative peut être prometteuse et que l'expression et la représentation des travailleurs sont indispensables pour que la convention tienne sa promesse.
