Voce tra le più convincenti della narrativa contemporanea italiana, Melania Mazzucco ha costantemente sperimentato l’ibridazione dei generi narrativi mediante l’amalgama di romanzo storico, racconto biografico, Künstlerroman, resoconto di ricerche d’archivio, in un impasto che talvolta inclina verso il family novel. Esplorando tale chiave combinatoria, il contributo qui proposto è dedicato all’analisi della narrazione anfibia sviluppata tra La lunga attesa dell’angelo, pubblicato nel 2008, e il monumentale saggio biografico Jacomo Tintoretto e i suoi figli, uscito nel 2009. Una diade nella quale il racconto biografico funge da contro-narrazione del romanzo in un sistema di tessere, interferenze, nuclei discorsivi che non sempre coincidono, poiché l’anamnesi delirante che caratterizza il romanzo viene talora contraddetta delle indagini archivistiche presentate nel saggio. Nel rimbalzo delle aporie tra “verità” e immaginazione, attraverso il governo sapiente degli anacronismi, l’autrice disegna la parabola familiare dell’illustre artista saldando la dimensione antropologica, culturale e storica della Venezia cinquecentesca allo scenario odierno.
