Abstract
Il romanzo familiare Cortile Nostalgia (2017) della scrittrice Giuseppina Torregrossa, racconta la storia di Mario e Melina, due giovani che cercano nelle braccia l’uno dell’altra il calore che non hanno potuto trovare nelle loro rispettive famiglie. Il testo di Cortile Nostalgia registra anche la storia d’Italia dal 1945 al 1978 per cui la storia della famiglia italiana si articola nel contesto di una nazione che attraversa tempi difficili e difficili processi di apprendimento e le memorie personali si confrontano con quella collettiva italiana. Ambientato nel quartiere dell’Albergheria a Palermo, il romanzo si rivela come narrazione multiculturale e multilingue intrisa nei suoni, odori e sapori saldamente ancorati alle complesse eredità della Sicilia. Questo articolo propone una lettura dello spazio intercettato dal cortile del romanzo di Torregrossa come fisico e immaginario al cui interno si articola una narrazione corale di famiglie siciliane, nonché una narrazione di formazione e maturazione identitaria per i suoi protagonisti che guarda anche alla definizione e al ruolo della famiglia e delle sue donne, ed infine allo spazio e tempo individuati dal romanzo.
