Abstract
Indagando i motivi, i modi e gli esiti cui conduce la scelta, da parte di Igiaba Scego, del romanzo di famiglia in Oltre Babilonia, Adua e La linea del colore, l’ipotesi di lettura qui proposta è che l’autrice progressivamente si allontani dal romanzo familiare più canonico e genealogico, per approdare a una sorta di meta-romanzo familiare, che da un lato interroga la definizione stessa di famiglia; e dall’altro scardina e riformula criticamente gli elementi, tematici e formali, del genere, facendo del romanzo familiare, coerentemente con il macrotesto dell’autrice, un esercizio di critica delle narrazioni e dell’immaginario (post)coloniale. Tale ipotesi sarà verificata esaminando nei tre testi: (1) la centralità del corpo come locus del trauma e della memoria; (2) la ricerca e costruzione dell’identità personale quale necessaria ricostruzione di un’appartenenza rizomatica, trans-generazionale e transnazionale; (3) la presenza di modelli familiari eccentrici e alternativi rispetto a quello patriarcale; (4) il contrasto tra le memorie familiari e le narrazioni dominanti del rimosso storico.
