Abstract
En choisissant la journée du jeudi 31 juillet 1924, cet article met en récit une polyphonie d’événements musicaux à partir de leur types de sources : la presse quotidienne montréalaise et les registres du studio d’enregistrement de la compagnie Compo. Selon une approche microhistorienne, cette journée sert de prisme à travers lequel étudier la diversité des manifestations musicales recensées ce jour-là sans se limiter aux catégorisations linguistiques ou stylistiques habituelles. L’analyse met en lumière des interactions et des dynamiques sociales entre différentes musiques, artistes et communautés autrement souvent négligées ou invisibilisées. La mise en récit microhistorique de la vie musicale produit ainsi une histoire décloisonnée et plurielle, enrichissant notre compréhension de l’histoire de la musique au Québec.
