Abstract
The author considers a vital phenomenon in the immigration picture of modern Canada – transmigration as an expression of the transnational nature of immigration to Canada. Global changes have an impact on migrant flows. Today, immigrants are no longer isolated from their country of origin. Through the development of transport and communications, they are building extensive networks that give a transnational character to immigration, allowing migrants to return through reverse transmigration to their country of origin or to develop economic, political and cultural ties with relatives and partners at home. The author points out the advantages of this phenomenon and the threats to the traditional values of Canadian society. Some aspects of the Canadian diaspora abroad, which is being formed in the process of transmigration, are also considered
