Abstract
Nous examinerons, dans cet article, la manière dont saint Thomas concilie deux versets de l’Écriture au sujet du Christ qui semblent, au premier abord, se contredire. Le premier affirme mystiquement qu’« il est le plus beau des enfants des hommes » (Ps 44, 3), le second « qu’il n’avait ni beauté ni éclat » (Is 53, 2). La confrontation de ces commentaires fera apparaître une lecture kénotique originale, à la fois proche et différente de celles qui ont été développées au xxe siècle.
