Abstract
The concept of a 15‐minute city has recently emerged in urban planning and endorsed by policymakers across the globe. The concept seeks to increase people's proximity by using active transportation modes such as walking and cycling to different types of activities that they need daily, achieving a wide array of social, economic, health, and environmental goals. The concept and its context are introduced alongside discussion of how early adopter cities have used the concept and the challenges of its implementation.
