Cette étude porte sur l’engagement féministe de Suzanne Comhaire-Sylvain, première anthropologue haïtienne reconnue. Ayant travaillé dans le champ de l’anthropologie et de la linguistique, cette figure avant-gardiste de la longue et riche histoire du féminisme haïtien a porté une attention soutenue aux réalités des femmes noires, dont celles de son pays. Son engagement intellectuel a été profondément influencé par une communauté épistémique constituée de femmes marquées par des situations diverses. Cet article souligne l’apport théorique de cette chercheure dans la structuration du féministe haïtien et du féministe noir en général ; il retrace un demi-siècle de sa contribution à la compréhension des rapports de pouvoir, dont ceux de sexe en Haïti et à l’étranger.
