Les villes du patrimoine mondial sont contraintes de s’adapter à de nombreux et nouveaux défis au 21e siècle. L’arrondissement historique du Vieux-Québec, inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO depuis 1985, sert de point de départ à une étude holistique de son patrimoine. Cette recherche entend adopter une méthodologie inédite, en employant un cadre d’analyse qui applique les six étapes de l’approche du paysage urbain historique (PUH) pour interroger sa situation actuelle et la manière dont la Ville de Québec met en place une approche patrimoniale inclusive et durable pour s’adapter aux nouveaux défis urbains. Suite à une enquête menée auprès de résidents, les résultats mettent en lumière les dynamiques entre les différents acteurs concernés par ce quartier classé, la pertinence du concept du PUH, et la redéfinition opérée par la Ville de Québec pour une gestion inclusive et durable de son patrimoine.
